July 22nd Pittston Fair Horse Show:
Show starts at 10 am, if you are not "showing" please plan to attend anyway to support the fellow 4Hers that are showing. We will be leaving the barn at 730am and plan to be home by 4pm. I have limited room in the car so first come first serve.
Bring with you money for lunch or a lunch plenty of water, chair to sit in, smiles, and the fair is ongoing at the same time so consessions are available. Parents feel free to take kids on rides, but I'm staying with the showing kids at the horse area.
July 27th Monmouth Fair Work Session/Pot Luck 5pm-8pm
We will be bringing down to the fairgrounds all of the obstacles from the ring, the horse trailer that has become the "mobile tack room" for those showing, and then we will be pot lucking it back at the barn. Please bring with you a dish to share, chair to sit in, and a stick for smore's.
July 28th Monmouth Fair Horse Show
Show starts 9am, ALL ARE TO BE HERE FOR THIS! If you are not "showing" than there are plenty of things that need to be done! Handing out ribbons, helping others, running errands, doing the books, announcing, taking money and more!!! PLEASE let me know which job you would like to do. Parents please feel free to step in on this one, I need as much help as possible. Thanks!
July 31st Monmouth Fair "Maine Barrel Racing"
OK so here the kids can come and watch barrel racing at the fair, or if anyone wants to try it out please let me know if they want to. It is a blast to watch and is fun to try (at slow speed for some:)

3rd Bangor State Fair Demo 10am to 1pm
I have been asked to teach the seven games to at the Bangor Fair to some local 4H clubs. SO I'm making this open to all the 4Hers from Bloomin' Stars! Please let me know if you would like to go (we get into the fair for free, and are able to help others understand the importance of playing with their horses!) Again Limited space in my truck parents are welcome to come too, we would leave around 7am and hit some rides/fair stuff after the clinic, hope to be home around 5pm.
6th 930am - 2pm
Jana Scotia will be here with the skulls of some horses, and an interesting talk about why we float our horse teeth. After the talk she will be 'floating' several of the horses teeth. Then we will be working on our games with the horses.
Monthly meetings addressing all aspects of being around horses. Including care, owning, showing, community service, and more!
About 4-H
4-H is the youth development program of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
4-H is a learning-by-doing program for kids. Currently, more than 20,000 Maine youth participate in 4-H activities. 4-H offers a wide variety of programs and projects in these categories:
- Youth in Governance
(Citizenship & Leadership)
- Healthy Lifestyles
- Science, Engineering & Technology
(Including a wide variety of animal science programs)
- Earth Connections & Sustainable Living
How much does it cost to be in 4-H? Almost all of the cost to participate is provided by federal, state and county tax dollars. In addition, 4-H Youth Development programs receive additional funding from The Pine Tree State 4-H Foundation, and other foundations, organizations and agencies. A variety of fundraising activities also provide financial support.
How are programs delivered? In addition to clubs, kids can participate in special-interest groups, overnight camping, day camps, school enrichment and after-school programs.

AJ Has been working on or rather with all aspects of the horses. AJ is working with Arizona and her sled, balance, and learning the enjoyments of barn management. Confident caring handler of all the horses.
Bryanna 
Learning that horses are able to be a blast! Working on her confidence and showing us all what hard work can do for you. Taken a real bond with Dobbin, and has shown Sparky that things won't eat her as she thinks they will!
Emil  y
Super hard worker, likes to see the barn clean, along with the horses clean too! Emily will be working on her 7 games with the horses, and building up the horses confidence. Emily drives Arizona in her cart very well, and loves to work with Sue.
Noah
Loves to work with Cash, but has recently taken to Moony. Noah is working hard on developing his natural seat, riding bareback! Noah has taken Sugar under his wing and is teaching him the seven games. This is a pair that respects eachother and understands that any pace of progress is acceptable.
Kerstin 
Kerstin is on her way to Level 1 Parelli Partnership Program! Kerstin works well with any and all horses here at the barn, she is currently working on the seven games, especially with Arizona.Here she is on Sue, and she takes on Tavish! Kerstin is working on her Level 1 Parelli Partnership Program.
Kelsea
Kelsea is working on learning how to jump, ground manners on her horse Dragon. Fostering a knowledge of understanding and partnership. Her overall goal is to train TB horses to race.

13th at 5pm Bring a potluck dinner dish to share, we will be going over the years meeting dates, Equine Affaire Trip, Halloween Exstravaganza, Christmas Parade, Team Penning, Record Keeping, Sledding, and a trip to Ireland!

26th @ 8am We will be offering "Nail in a Bale" for the visitors of AppleFest. Nail in a Bale is when people pay to pull out nails from a bale of hay. $.25/nail or 5 for a $1. People will be hoping to pull out the "painted" nail, if a person pulls the "painted" nail out then they will win one of four baskets full of prizes!
Please bring with you a drink, layered clothes, money or lunch, and a smile!
4H Meeting October:
3rd Trail Ride in Monmouth..... this will be with people from all over the state! Trail locations and times will be discussed at previous meeting. To be able to ride in this you must have been to lessons regularly, and have demonstrated that you are able to follow directions from the trail boss, stop, walk, and trot under control, saddle up, watch, and mount up without much help from Katherine. To reserve your spot please talk to Katherine and to match up with the appropriate horse combo. ****Looks like the plan is to hit Mt Pisgah, feel free to hike up and meet us at the top!*** Not sure if it looks like rain for the weekend. I'll keep you posted!
31st Horse Exstravaganza at 230pm! This is it, you will be showcasing all that you have learned for family and friends! Musical rides with costumes, pumpkin carving, pot luck dinner, and then trick or treating! What a way to spend Halloween! We have been given the go ahead to use a very nice sound system~ let's keep the practice going guys!

Super job Gouls and Gals! Wonderful demonstrations and costumes by all! Look for slideshow of all participants up this week. Here we have the scarecrow (Cash), Dorothy (Amelia), Tin Man (Tavish), and the Lion (Carter). Yes, those are real overalls on Cash, what a super horse.
4H Meetings November
14th: Trip to the Equine Affaire! Leaving Sat morning, home Sunday night. Fantasia musical ride to watch Sat night, and shop till we drop on Sunday! This is a family event.... please plan to come with us, visit equineaffaire.com for more info!
21st: Driving Challenge/ Holiday parade costuming 10:30 am until 1. Bring a snack to share please. We will be driving from zones 3,4,5, and hitching to an object. Brush up on the games, as well as the zones! Let's see how many can drive one or two horses together! Dress in Layers.
4H Meetings December:
5th CHRISTMAS/HOLIDAY PARADE this will be in Winthrop and it is at night. We will be getting horses ready starting at 130pm. Trailering them to the new Hannaford, walking them down the road and then loading them up to come home. This is a cold time and by walking we stay warm:) Horses will be decorated with glitter, holiday necklaces, santa or reindeer hats, and tree skirts that have been decorated by 4H members. We do have to ask friends to trailer the horses, so please be prepared to offer a few dollars in "gas" for those trailering the horses that your children use. (Thank you.)

Holiday Parade went very smoothly! I think that all the members had a blast, I know we had lots of positive comments on how friendly and well mannered the horses were. Kudos and THANK YOU to all that helped, walking, trailering, supporting, and picture taking! (Please email me pics that you have.)

Meet at the barn 1030am, then off to Augusta Civic Center. Lunch will be together at Great Wall Buffet at 1-130ish. Parents will be carpooling, money is needed to get into show, and recommended for spending.

6th Woolworth Estate Tour of Racing Stables, followed by binder catch up and work!
20th Working on your deep seat, and SPRING CLEANING!:) First day of spring! Please bring a snack to share, work gloves, and work clothes. We will be riding, and cleaning.

10th Parelli 7 games relay races. Versatility obstacle work also.
20th 9am Vitals/shots/records The vet will be here to do shots, vitals, and chiropractic work on the horses. 4Hers will be learning how to take vitals, and evaluate gaits.
4H in May
22nd May Faire at Cumston Hall.
We will be selling manure as a group, and helping those that purchase flowers move them to their vehicles. Bring sunscreen, drink, snacks, (Lunch is available for purchase) brown bag lunch. 730 am @ Cumston Hall
31st Memorial Day Parade
Sign up w ith Katherine as to which horse or goat you would like to walk in the parade. Meet at the Barn at 730 in the am, walk to Cumston Hall for 930 line up. We will walk the parade with a pit stop at the beach. (Most likely will have the horse trailer for the goats.)

MALE insurance forms filled out by June 25th, mail them in!!!!

18th Friday, 5pm we have been asked to rake leaves at a residence in North Monmouth, again for the second year! Please bring with you gloves, rake, bug dope, water, and a supper dish to share:) Hot Dogs will be on the grill after we work. (Should take about an hour) Parents please join us for working and supper
